Today, I celebrate and recognize my ancestors who have served in the U.S. military. I am so proud of them all. Thank you so much for your sacrifice. And thank you so much for leaving me a paper trail;)
My granddad, Luther Holt, World War II:
My maternal great -uncles, James and George Springer, World War II:
My paternal great-uncles, Waldon and Wellington Waters, World War II:
And Donald Waters, the Korean War:
My maternal great-grandfather, Lawson Holt, World War I:
And, of course I do not have a picture, but my ancestor Henry Holt who served and died during the U.S. Civil War, 55th Infantry.
I salute you all and honor you on this day and everyday!

I just sent daddy a Veteran’s Day card celebrating his accomplishments as well. We sometimes tend to take these holidays for granted and hence negate our very own family contributions to the greater good. What a wonderful way to make history real, engaging and enlightening for ourselves and those yet to embrace their part of history as well. Thank you for this connection!
You honor your forebears well for their service to our country.

Great photos and a fitting tribute.
Although he wasn’t a citizen yet, my maternal grandfather Rigaude Placide Prout served in the US Navy on a transport ship the USS Mongolia during WWI. They went to Brest, France. I have his diary, lettrs he received from his father in Barbados & photos. One is of him with several other un-named “colored” soldiers & sailors.
